What Is CelerBB?
CelerBB is a piece of forum software that is designed to provide a free alternative to much of the other large, expensive forum software that is available on the internet today. CelerBB is programmed entirely using PHP, with MySQL as a database. The front end, done in XHTML and CSS, is, by default, fully compliant with the XHTML Strict 1.0 standards set by the W3C, which is also a new feature compared to most other leading forum software that is available today. The overall main focus for CelerBB is to introduce a new forum/message board system with an easy to understand, user friendly, yet versatile enviroment that the average user will be able to use and understand. One major example of this user friendly enviroment is the ease of creating skins/themes for the forum software. Most other forum software available on the internet have a complex, difficult to understand way of creating new skins/themes. Someone who has a basic understanding of HTML and CSS will be able to completely reskin CelerBB; not just simple color modification, or image replacement. Another feature that CelerBB is going to bring to the table is the integration of Object-Oriented Programming into PHP forum software. This will dramatically improve speed and overall performance of the software. CelerBB's primary focus is to introduce new features and standards to the market of open source forum software.
